About Me

Let's get to know each other

Here's a little about me personally...

Daughter and Dog

I live in Columbia, South Carolina with my family which includes two cats (Kylo and Sirius) and a dog (Max).  My single greatest accomplishment, and challenge, is being the father of a wonderful daughter.  We are very similar which I'm not sure is a good or bad thing at this point.

During the pandemic we took up mountain biking.  She's fearless on the trails!  We both ride Specialized mountain bikes.

I've taken up playing the guitar again after picking at it off-and-on over the years.  I'm enjoying taking lessons which I do once a week.  Not only am I learning something new (or in some cases relearning) I'm getting to share the joy of music with my daughter.  She's taken up learning bass guitar and will be playing trumpet which she starts attending band at school.

I like cars.  I'm a member of the BMW Car Club of America, frequent the local Cars and Coffee events and participate in high performance driving events (HPDE) when I can.  I've also attended the BMW Performance Driving School a couple of times in Greer, SC and can highly recommend it.  You really do learn a lot that can be applied to everyday driving.  My brother and I did the 1-day M School in January 2019.  It was such fun and I hope to be fortunate enough to do it again some day.

I'm blessed to have been able to travel a lot (pre-COVID) and see many places in the world.  This photo is from our trip to the Galapagos Islands in Equador.  It's a once in a lifetime experience and will be forever remembered.  In addition to Ecuador, I've been to Germany (twice), India, Ireland, Italy (twice), London (twice), Paris, and Spain.  Of all the places that I've been I enjoyed Germany the most and plan to return.  My brother and I went there in 2015 with the goal of driving on the Autobahn - which we did in a new BMW M5.  Talk about a rush!

...and Professionally

I've spent my entire professional career within the insurance space with the majority being in voluntary benefits.  I began working in PowerBuilder for a few years and ultimately transitioned to the Microsoft technology stack which has been my primary focus ever since.  My areas of expertise include C#, ASP.Net, Microsoft web technologies, API design, Services (REST, WCF), SQL Server, creating reusable frameworks and Sitecore. I am passionate about learning new tools and technologies and helping others succeed.  I created my company's first iOS application back in 2010 and was the co-creator of our first Amazon Alexa Skill.  I have also obtained numerous certifications throughout my career.
